Read an IPL Score Such as 142/4
A score of 142/4 means 142 runs and four wickets lost. To understand the situation, read the overs, batting team and innings alongside those numbers.
Start with runs and wickets
Runs are the team’s accumulated score; the wicket figure counts dismissals in that innings. The slash does not mean division and is not a run-rate calculation. Read the display labels if the scorecard presents the values another way.

Add valid balls and innings
The same score after ten overs and after eighteen overs describes different stages. A first innings and a chase also need different context. For a chase, read the target and remaining balls before deciding what is still required.
Use the match status
An innings break, interruption and final result are distinct states. A score by itself cannot identify the result. Follow the competition’s current scorecard for changed conditions rather than relying on a screenshot from an earlier stage.
